Public Prosecutor vs Ashley Roland Robern

The High Court in Klang heard an appeal by the Public Prosecutor and cross-appeal by the accused, Ashley Roland Robern, against the Sessions Court's sentence for three counts of rape under Section 376(1) Penal Code. The Sessions Court had sentenced the accused to 5 years imprisonment and 1 stroke of the cane for each charge, to run concurrently. The High Court allowed the prosecution's appeal, increasing the imprisonment term to 7 years for each charge while maintaining the caning sentences.
