Kumaresan a/l Nadarajan v Public Prosecutor

The appellant Kumaresan a/l Nadarajan was convicted of murdering his sister-in-law Sivasanggeri a/p Arumugam at Hotel Myhome, Petaling Jaya between 9-10 June 2014. The Shah Alam High Court sentenced him to death, which was affirmed by the Court of Appeal on 26 March 2019. The prosecution's case relied on circumstantial evidence including CCTV footage, hotel records, and the appellant's confessions to his wife and another witness. The defense claimed the deceased died during consensual erotic sex, but the court found the evidence overwhelmingly pointed to murder by strangulation. The appeal was dismissed and the death sentence upheld.
